Has anyone here played Space Rangers 2, Rise of the Dominators? What are your opinions of the gameplay, story, and general atmosphere?
I have bought it and installed but I have not invested much play time for it.

I play

I bought the game and I really do have fun when I play. Unfortunately its really just a limited amount of fun. I want to love the game, but it just seems to be missing something. I really can't put my finger on exactly what it is missing. Perhaps it's just personal, I wanted an updated version of Star Control and while this game does have some semblance to that legendary game it just lacks something fundemental. This game won't get removed from my hard drive, even though it is rare to the point of taking weeks or even months before I return to it.

I have played Space Rangers 2 and I have to agree with ChiggyVonRichtoven, its ok for an arcade style involvement but lacks the storyline and technical savy a good 4x or strategy game would normally have.
I like the mix of game types: space travel with custom ships and components and a robot wars real time resource subgame.
Its a little slow to build your ship/player with a little too much repetitiveness in the mission types.

I like the game.
But I don't know why they build so big a MINI-game, the ground battle, for so little usage, government missions. Before playing I have thought at least I will be able to liberate a planet by winning a ground battle. I was so dissapointed when I read "landing impossible" in dominator-occupied system.
I like the inflation model. It stops at certain price level, however.
It will be most desirable if in "SP3" I can occupy colony or at least purchase real estate or build star base for myself.

Loved it all the while I was playing it but once I finished it I didn't feel much of an urge to replay. I definitely got my money's worth out of it though.

The whole game is meh. I suggest X3, it is like this game, except it is much easier to get and and it is 3D (get X2 if you dont have a GeForce 6 series card and a gig of ram though, X3 is a system hog) You actually dogfight anyone you don't like or the system police and such, or you could go trading and etc. X3 to me is just an uber version of Space Rangers with steroids, cocaine, and beta-blockers in its blood, hence in a fight between the two X3 would be unstoppable and feel no pain Eye-wink

I wanted to buy it, but it is Starforced, so it is not being installed on my system.

Space Rangers were great games. the gameplay was awesome and i had a lot of fun playing it.

However the replayability was very low. Once you finish the game 2-3 times there's litte incentive to do it all over again.

But still, SR2 was a very good game.
