Tech Researched does not match Tech specified

Submitted by rjnharvey on Wed, 2006-11-08 19:28.
Project:Space Empires V
Version:1.13
Component:Code
Category:bug
Priority:normal
Assigned:Unassigned
Status:active
Attachment:ok2.gam (330.68 KB)

Description

A number of turns into a brand new game under 1.13.

I have specified all tech to go into Space Yards.
I am getting a jumble of techs being researched but none in Space Yards.
I have an a treaty with on Comp AI. It is almost like I am getting the tech the AI is researching.

I am including a savegame file. If I go with another turn I am seeing the same thing. I can provide another savegame file if needed.

Look at the treaty

Submitted by evilginger on Wed, 2006-11-08 20:20.

There is a clause in some treaties which would explain why you are getting the AI tech and not be a bug. It is also possible to agree to research stopping clauses which will reduce your research to zero regardless of other settings if you agree to them.

Start the game again and check the treaty and be warned the AI likes to sneak in clauses banning research.

It is also possible that you have been sabotaged by an AI empire as espionage can increase research times to tens of years

Hope that helps

There is NO bug.

My apologies. There is NO bug. Long list of treaty items and I missed one. One that restricted my research. Again, My apologies.

dont worry

Submitted by evilginger on Thu, 2006-11-09 13:30.

The first time it happened to me I thought it was a bug as is was in the initial demo. just watch the AI it might not be as good as it could be in some respects but it is devious from time to time. This being one of those times

There should be a big red flag

Submitted by AngleWyrm on Fri, 2006-11-10 09:17.

There should be a big red flag on the research window that clearly states all research is currently disabled due to a treaty.

I agree

Submitted by evilginger on Fri, 2006-11-10 12:22.

I would agree with that or a least something in the galactic news thing saying something like "sire you are a twit you have agreed with the to suspend all research" the same sort message should be generated by the no Intel clause and the no other treaties clause but of which are as annoying if less devastating. Persistently refusing a treaty has got me into at least one war I was not ready to fight for example

You could always try to

Submitted by carlosjuero on Fri, 2006-11-10 14:22.

You could always try to offer a counter-treaty when the AI sends you one with a No Research clause. I did this in one game where the AI started out with a normal treaty where we shared resupply, repair, and traded research (equal level), 2 turns later they offered one that would prevent only me from researching anything at all. I sent back a counter-treaty without that stipulation and changing our shared research to 4 levels old. I guess the AI got kinda nervous at the rate I was researching weapon levels Smiling

-Currently subjecting multiple galaxies to the doom of conquer or blackholes

counter treaties

Submitted by evilginger on Fri, 2006-11-10 14:53.

That’s what I do now doesn’t always work though and one has to read every treaty and not just pass them on the nod in case of some such clause buried in there. Amendments also require AI agreement which they don’t always give. However I don’t mind that SEV is not a good game for people who don’t pay attention
