AI - 1.13 |
So, before I start another massive game where I am not likely to run into my neighbors for 100 turns...has the AI been tweeked in this patch so that on turn 300 when I have 500 ships and 100 colonies, will each of the 20 AI's be able to give me a challenge, or will they still be 5-15 colonies and 60 ships?

1.13 AI
Yes the AI is better. I don't think it will be challenging yet, as there are a few more bugs that I've been finding in the scripts. I would say as a whole its better, but how it will play in game, i still don't know for sure. I have some empires that do well, and some that don't. I attribute those fall backs to a few problems I've found in the scripts that are "sometimes" bugs. meaning they work but in specific instances they fail miserably. And its only if you read closly and understand what is going on when you can even find them, let alone know how to fix them... T_T

The AI is ok in my opinion
I went to war with an ai and it sent 6 cruiser against me i wa shocked to see such a response but also happy they were fightinh back for a change.
Only fools send diplomats, instead of war ships.

Play on a medium map with
Play on a medium map with max opponents and you will start to run into the other races right away. The AI is giving me a good fight at the moment. Its early in the game and my ships were not powerful enough to destroy one of the enemy's planets before running out of ammo. I would go back and reload and hit the planet again. On about my fourth trip I got a nasty surprise. There were some transports in the sector and apparently they unloaded some weapon platforms on the planet, which promptly wiped out my 2 lead ships. A few turns before this enemy had wiped out of my colonies in that area.
Edit: BTW I'm playing on Hard with some advantage to AI.

Does the AI built warship
Does the AI built warship with long range weapons under 1.13 version ? Because it seems it never figured out the benefits of being armed with missiles.

Fleet supplies working?
Do your ships run out of supplies BEFORE engaging? I just warped into a system with a fleet of six meson frigates and four missile frigates, and the whole fleet was out of supplies as soon as combat started. One enemy frigate wiped out three of my fleet, and they didn't get off a single shot.

well..... About 300 rounds
well.....
About 300 rounds into my game, and I have 4 systems, the IA has the rest of the 14...
Its 4 AI on team vs me, and so far its sending in about 1 ship a round to attack my forces at the warpgate.
I can now if I want to, kill all the 4 AI's with no problems and take the galaxy.
so its a snore.

In the beginning of the game
In the beginning of the game the AI is rather difficult for me. I typically do a Medium map with medium ammount of AI players with hard difficulty, medium advantage, all AI vs me (which didn't seem to work this time), no neutrals, and players can start in the same system.
Oh yeah, and I usually have everyone start with 5 planets (It makes the game pick up a little quicker). Before I even completed the first turn I noticed an Enemy right next to me so I made a transport on one nearby planet and a load of fighters on the closest one... Both planets were on Emergancy build so on 2400.2 I captured the planet and got a new atmosphere breathing race. It was rather nice.

LOL last night I did a small map, high races, high AI, high Bonus, random placement. Three races besides me started out in my system
.
Funny stuff, until they wiped out my 2 just colonized worlds and started swarming the sectors around my planet with frigates...eek!
I woulda taken one though if ground troops were working, but they always start with 0 movement, even with those little thrusters.
