Adding race art easily?

If you browse to SE5\Empires\Abbidon, you can see a couple of different files there that have race portraits. I'm guessing the game shows you the race portraits from all of the empires and then lets you choose one for your empire. I wonder... if you found the picture you used when you created your empire, you might try replacing that one with your new one.

Of course, I think it is probably a better and safer way to copy all the files and create your own Mod in the GameTypes directory so that you are not "messing" with the game's original files. But if you made a backup copy of the files and then tried changing one, that might work.

I haven't tried this. Do this at your own risk and all that stuff. Oh, and it it works, let us know.

I took made a folder and using a different race as a template cut and pasted my races portrait in to the Portrait files i also coped a flag from the pictures/flags renamed it to my new race after MINOR editing now I have a race that is selectable (but not ships)

then i took the default Neutral race ships copied them into the folder then renamed them to my new race name then redirected all the txt files fro look at %race% not default so now a 100% working race complete with ships selectable as either Human or AI.

(I Choose the Default Ships 1) cause I actulty like them and 2) this way no other race gets Bumped when i play them cause there ship are taken)

Plus think of the suprise when playing with other Humans when they see "neutral" ship warping and when they first see your ships think noting of them cause there "neutral"
