Firing point question

Submitted by cirlin on Mon, 2006-11-06 01:13. SE:V MODs

I've been messing with the firing points of my models in the Manticore_Ships_XFileClasses.txt file, and even though I put in points matching all the model's weapon ports, the graphic's only ever show missiles and beams coming out of one spot. It's really annoying because I can never tell how many missiles are coming at me, and I'm never really sure how many beams are being fired; everything just stacks on top of each other. Also it just doesn't look as good as a full, spread out broadside Smiling Is there anyway to force it to use the different firing points?

AFAIK

As far as I can tell, SE5 simply uses the firing point that's closest to the target.

This is correct. The game would need some routine to randomly select a port for each projectile it launches. Additionally, it would probably need to know which side of the model is towards a target, otherwise you would have shots originating from all over the model, including sides opposite the target.

Oh, well. It's not that big

Oh, well. It's not that big a deal I guess. Particulary when I start having larger battles, there's so much stuff flying around the screen already that I don't miss it too much. Smiling
Thanks for the info.
