Suggestion for scouting solar systems

Submitted by loquitur on Sun, 2006-11-05 21:07. Space Empires V General

Is there a reason why as your ship passes out of sensor range of another empire's planets, that your intel on that planet disappears altogether? You don't even retain the knowledge that an empire has colonized a planet. This just makes it harder to remember what you should already know.

I would think that scouted information should remain known, but with an 'age' attached to it, like '5 years old', for example.

It would be nice if the information remained frozen until an active sensor was bought back within range. It would stop you trying to colonise worlds already colonised by allies and to avoid sending unarmed colony ships into the home systems of enemies which usually results in you wasting a colony ship

This was done in Total Anihilation, and it worked out great.
