No warp points in 100+ system maps |
I changed the setting file so that I could have more systems, But when ever it creates a galaxy with 101 or more systems it takes several map generations just to get a few warp points. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the game and patch but it still does it? Anyone else having this problem or know of what I did wrong to create this problem?
The search function does work
This isn't the first time it was mentioned but here's one of them.

For the 3rd time, this is how you get warp points for 100+
YOU DO NOT NEED TO EDIT THE "SYSTEMNAMES"
you only need to edit 3 lines in 1 file. that file is "Settings" First you edit the maximun and the minimum number of systems for your quadrant to equal 100+.
This gives you 100+ systems but no warp points. in order to get your warp points YOU MUST ALSO EDIT THE LINE "MAXIMUM NUMBER OF SYSTEMS" to be equal or greater then the Maximum number of systems. again YOU DO NOT NEED TO EDIT THE "SYSTEMNAMES" file.
This is the third time Im stating how to do this, this should be included in the games read me or some other easy to find spot.
But to make it simplier: The default "SETTINGS" has three lines
Line 1 - Maximum number of systems = 100 (Change to 255)
Line 2 - Minimum Number Of Systems Large Quadrant = 60 (change to whatever)
Line 3 - Maximum Number Of Systems Large Quadrant = 100 (again change to whatever)
Lines 2 and mostly 3 need to be edited to have 100+ systems, Line 1 MUST BE EDITED to include warp points.
Also on a side note to make your warp points have a spider web effect edit the "QUADRANTTYPES" pick any galaxy change the "Min Angle Between WP" to = 0. and the galaxy type will have a spider web effect with its warp points.

Just don't do it. :)
First, did you modify your SystemNames.Txt file to include 255 names? The game only ships with a file that has 100 or 101 names in it. If you modify Settings.Txt to set the large map number of systems to more than 100, then you'll run into the problem where many of the systems don't have names. It has been suggested this might cause path-finding problems for the AI. But I don't know for sure. I *do* know that it can be quite a pain when you yourself have to remember which "blank" system a Warp Point points at.
I *think* I observed the behaviour your are talking about. Ultimately, I set the max number back to 100. With the colonization techs so cheap, I found I was colonizing about three times as many planets as in SEIV. so, the sheer number of planets to potentially colonize made me drop that number back down to 100. I had it set so there would always be 100. But I changed that one back to 60 to 100 as well.
I'm in about turn 180 in a large galaxy game with about 70 systems. Let me just say the game is starting to crawl a little bit when ships move. I would strongly recommend against trying to play the game with more than 100 systems.
Once again, take a look at the SystemNames.Txt file. If you need a file with that many names, check out Imperator Fyron's website: www.spaceempires.net. I believe he has a link on the homepage to a file with more names.
