EVERY combat crashes Game with "Buffer Error"

Description

I have a savegame here... (on SMALL map, by the way!)
it is unplayable, because EVERY space combat whatsoever ends with a "Buffer error" crash to desktop.
Regardless... I can put a troop transport near a warp point then press next turn, the AI attacks it and ... *bang*
I can attack a lonely AI colony ship somewhere, I can attack an AI's destroyer fleet... every space combat whatsoever results in a buffer error CDT.
Savegame and hardware specs on request.
please tell me which files you need (a "complete savegame" consist of...which files??) same goes for OS/hardware specs -- can generate directX report and/or hardware/driver listing.... whatever you need please contact me.

This is supposed to be fixed

This is supposed to be fixed in the next patch. Now to get the next patch released. PLEASE. The game is virtually unplayable right now.

bug not untestable!

It may be that the game is a bit short in the gameplay dept right now, but we can all see the clear potential. Use the pre-patch time to test out as much stuff as you can and submit the reports to aaron, so he can get things fixed. We're well on the road to this being the best 4x game out there.
