Space Empires & Linux

Submitted by Helker on Wed, 2006-11-01 09:19. Space Empires V FAQs

Is it possible to run Space Empires under Linux?

I believe that a Linux Version would be great Smiling

SEIV Gold could run well

Submitted by Combat Wombat on Wed, 2006-11-01 10:24.

SEIV Gold could run well enough under Wine. SEV however won't even start under wine at least back when I tried it in the beta. If there was a push I bet those interested could get Cedega to support it. There are no plans to my knowledge to have SEV work natively under Linux because its engine is completely Directx 8.1 and would take a ton of recoding to make it OpenGL and Linux compatible and there just isn't a big enough market.
