A question for you guys

Submitted by CaptRR on Tue, 2006-10-31 13:53. Space Empires V Multiplayer

If the PBW site has been upgraded to run the se5, then please ignore this comment.

For the last few weeks me and my brother have been playing a play by web game. Since the original Play by web site does not appear to support se5 yet (though I could be wrong, I havn't really looked into it very hard), I developed some pbw software so that me and my brother could play and not have to screw around with emailing files back and forth.

My question is if you guys would be interested in it. Its not very featured, and its pretty buggy (hey I threw it together after a few beers, and an all nighter). I don't really have the time to be a fully featured technical support for it, so I will of course release the source code as well.

It consists of two programs, ones on the server, and ones on the client. At this point the server can only run 1 game at a time. Both use the .net framework so its going to have to be on a windows box for the server, and whoever is running the server will have to set up an ftp server so that the files can be transfered back and forth.

Like I said, its pretty buggy, and can only support up to 9 players at this point, and its not as easy to set up the software for the client or server as the Play By Web Software.

Let me know if you guys want it.

Convinced me to release it

Combat_Wombat conviced me to release the code.

He has been kind enough to host it.
