Pesky and dumb AI

I have a problem.

I am playing space empires since space empires III has come out. I must say I was satisfied with all the versions until now:

Space empires V has an extremely poor AI. When they offer a diplomatic relationship with you they don't stop! You have to refuse them every turn! When you have many players in this game and each is bugging you turn after turn it spoils the game completely and drives the player on the edge of a nervous brakedown. Is it so hard for the crew of SE V to put at least a simple delay timer so that tha AI wouldn't constantly bother me for treaties?
On that discussion I have a suggestion: The AI, after being refused, will select a random number of turns between 2 and 15. When that number passes then they would simply reprocess the entire treaty and see if it is even necesary to have a treaty with me.

Feature request for warppoint defense simulation

I sometimes would prefer to know how well my warppoint defense works by trying it in simulation.
Would it be easy to add in combat simulator a way to set up simulated combat so, that one of the parties comes through wormhole.

The combat should be able to handle it, so I guess it is only getting a way to set one fleet into the warppoint, and then come through it. (assuming warppoint is on the simulator field)

Looking for a good novel

Hi everyone ^^ at this time I am looking for a good sci-fi novel with focus of deep space (or space in general) exploring and maybe some first contact events.

Also interesting could be a novel more space opera like with focus on space battles

any recomendations, tips, hints or at least a push in the right direction?

AI never surrenders

In all the games I've played I have never (I mean NEVER) seen an enemy empire surrender. Even when they have only one planet (not even their homeworld) left with no defensive capability whatsoever (no ships, weapon platforms, fighters, troops, sats, bases or mines) they refuse to surrender. I've left an empire this way for over 10 turns while I demanded their surrender turn after turn only to get the same standard replies (What. When we are so close to victory? I think not. ETC). In SEIV an empire would give in and surrender when it was hopeless. Why has this changed?
Another thing bothering me is when you research something, in order to find out exactly what it does or how much more effective it is you have to nearly jump through hoops! Why can't you just right-click it (again as in SEIV) and get all the details. Just one of many examples of how the user interface has become bogged down. It seems it's more important to "look pretty" than be "user friendly".

Diplomacy

Hi all, I have a problem with diplomacy. Always when I try to send a message to other races, I do not get an answer. Until now I was never able to create an agreement with other races, neither trading nor anything else. Is it a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
