ver 1.71

I got automatically updated to version 1.71 and i'm playing a game in 1.66. Does this make a difference.

I'll answer my own question- it must do as i get the error "the data files currently being used do not match the data files that were used when this game was started."

Surely I must be able to play an older version game when i get a newer version? (I had no choice on the install steam did it for me!

Armour Slots

I'm playing a multiplayer game with a friend of mine...

And because this was our first shot at this we choose to work together so we shared designs, battles, etc...etc.. almost everything except techs.

Now I noticed something peculiar with all the design sharing...

My type of ships have only half the available armour slots that my friend's ships have.

Now I understand that not all designs can be exactly the same (it would be boring) I think the difference with these armour slots is a little bit to large ??
(OK, there is more space for weapons and/or Shield Generators but according to me the benefits doesn't take away the losses)

1.71 Custom Mod Changes??

So anyone??

I hear there were some changes that 'broke' things like the Balance Mod etc. I know Kwok will have updates for his but what about things like personal custom mods or IRM which no longer have 'supporters'.

Anyone have a list of the fixes that we have to add to these mods to make them work? (hope its not shipset script changes....)..

Hi guys. Does having more then one Basic Sensor component increase the range? AI seem to be putting four on their satellites. My second question is, has anyone noticed that the Jraenar Imperium does not put weapons on its units? Not found any other AI empire doing this since a patch was released that fixed this bug.

weapon range

hi everybody! I'm actually at developing my first mod and i have a question to you. Is there a way to change the maximum weapons range? I mean over 300, i didn't found this value in the settigs.txt file so i'm looking for help here... anyone knows how to do it?

Babylon 5 Wars SEV Mod Update

For those of you who are interested. I have now completed the programming for my Babylon 5 Wars mod on the following races: Abbai, Alacan, Balosian, Brakiri, Cascor, Centauri, Corillani, Descari, and Dilgar. The play is awesome so far and plays VERY much like the B5W game. I will start work on the Drazi this weekend. I hope to get them done on Saturday and if I get some time I may get the EarthForce done on Sunday. At this rate I may have a nice beta release within a month, maybe two.

This is a huge endeavor (I will complete all 35 playable races, each with unique technologies, and a few hybrids). So when the beta is done if anyone wants to script AI for it they are welcome to do it. Currently I am simply working on a multiplayer version. When you figure I have to go through thousands of pages of rules to program SEV equivilants I am sure you will understand why I doubt I will handle the AI. Multiplayer is where this game shines anyway.

Balance Mod v1.14a Patch for SE5 v1.71 Available!

I've posted the v1.14a patch for the Balance Mod to be used with the new SE5 v1.71 patch released today.

It's savegame compatible with v1.10+ games. You need to have v1.14 installed before applying the v1.14a patch.

OK, I'm new to the Space Empires but I've become addicted pretty quickly and I'm trying to get a feel for all the different mods here.

What's your favorite mod and why?

I've played the devnull 1.66.1 which I liked as it seemed to be alot more though out but I don't have the time to play two or three of these games at once ... so what's your suggestion?
