Best Attack ShipSubmitted by Bones on Sun, 2008-08-10 00:53. Space Empires V GeneralI've maxed out the weapons in order to get the best attack ship possible, but It's been a little dispointing. No matter what weapons/defence mix I use, I can't beat the following. All components are maxed out: Cruiser (750mt) 10 x quantum (17 moves), 2 x beam PD, 4 x P Sheilds, 4 x Emissive armor, 6 AP Beams (H mount), 1 each of - master comp, neural net, combat sensor, basic sensor and ECM. I've tried being heavy on missile, photon torps, the larger weapons you get at the end of the research tree, all fail. A couple of these cruisers can take out a base ship or 5 or 6 missile cruisers (Organic or Crystal). Yep they will still get swarmed with a 6 or more missile heavy ships, but I would have thought that investing heaps to max out the weapons tree you would get some real good ones. No beam weapons fire further than AP, and the frequency of fire makes them as hard hitting as the heavier weapons that have a longer re-charge The 2 beam PDs shop a fair few missiles getting through and finally the sheilds and armor hold the damage off long enough to waste the oposition. » read more | 25 comments |

What am I doing wrong?Submitted by kg4ggl on Sun, 2008-08-10 20:17. Space Empires V FAQsI designed a series of sats using 2 solar panels (maxed tech) that supply 100 points supply each per star. Included in the design is a cloaking sheild, tachyon scanners, self-destruct, and computer core. The rest of the space is filled with supply containers. The design has 2500 supply points, generates 200 points of supply. The only thing that uses supply is the cloaking field which uses only 100 points of supply. After about two turns on stealth, the @&#^$*@# things come out of stealth and sit there. The supply level never drops, I don't disengage the stealth field.
