Shipset questionSubmitted by marhawkman on Wed, 2008-06-18 23:24. SE:V MODsI recently tried modifying BlackSwan's interstellar alliance shipset, but found a problem I don't know how to fix. Whenever I try to use the shipset(vree), the game acts as though I selected the Interstellar Alliance shipset instead. So what happens is: My theory concerning this is that somewhere inside the shipset data is a text string it uses to identify itself. This is currently the same as in the IA shipset. Thus the game can't tell them apart. » read more | 4 comments |
redesign bugSubmitted by marhawkman on Thu, 2008-06-19 04:19. Bug ReportsI found a bug that lets you redsign a ship after it's built. apparently it's a "rebug" that was fixed in a previous version. It's the one where switching views undisables the edit button. |

Weapon Data Repository?Submitted by Nazrac on Thu, 2008-06-19 10:41. Space Empires V FAQsWhere can I find the data on weapons or for that matter on components in general? I want to know damages, ranges, costs etc. On seaker weapons, I want to know how fast the seeker moves and how much damage it takes before being destroyed. I also would like to know how each weapon improves with tech levels. Some weapons seem to improve only slightly with tech levels while others improve drastically. I want to be able to print out the data or even import it into an Excel file so I can compute the best tech paths to take to reach my goals. I am aware that I can just start a game with all of the technologies and then just look at each weapon individually. That is a long and laborous task. It also does not tell me how well a weapon changes with tech advancement nor does it tell me what I want to know about seeking weapons. |

Auto Launch Satelites and Fighters from a Planet?Submitted by Nazrac on Thu, 2008-06-19 11:20. Space Empires V GeneralI use a lot of units in my games. In order to fill up my carriers and keep my satelite layers busy, I have a good number of planets building fighters and satelites (mines too but that is a different subject). What I am finding is that I am forced to only build on planets with large storage capacities because on small domed plannets, they run out of space very quickly. Is there a way to have a planet build satelites and fighters and then immediately lauch them? Better yet, is there a way to have a planet build fighters and then immediately launch them and have them move to another location? I know, I am spoiled from playing Total Anihilation and Supreme Commander where you can build and then automatically give the new units various orders. » read more | 5 comments |

Research By Percentage SUCKSSubmitted by Nazrac on Thu, 2008-06-19 15:20. Space Empires V FAQsI don't know why they didn't just reuse the research interface from SE IV. I absolutely hate this allocation by percentage. I spend countless minutes each turn just trying to allocate my research in a way that I get the next tech levels instead of having points wasted in half the items researched as they only get a partial level. I click on a tech, then I use the arrows to go up or down 1 pt at a time until I get the right percentage to get the next tech level. Sorry, but this is a big leap backwards compared to the old interface. Is there a way to use some of the old SE IV features such as automatically allocating enough points to get the next level? » read more | 48 comments |
How to change ship models/sizesSubmitted by psisai on Thu, 2008-06-19 20:54. Space Empires V GeneralHello, I'm not much of a modder, so I was wanting to know how I would go about doing one of two things. 1. Is there any easy way to take a ship model, and increase or decrease it in all dimensions, such that you could then use it for a larger or smaller ship class? I understand that the game doesn't care what the ship's size is, in dimensions, relative to its kT. But as a person, I would like my model for my higher kT ships to be bigger than the lower ones. 2. I am also wanting to know if anyone has made a mod, or knows a way to mod the game, such that you could pick from several models for a given ship class. For example, you could have 1,2,3...ect different ship models for a destroyer, or battleship. » read more | 2 comments |
