Exception Error??

hmm,

First time for me for one of these game stopping errors. No errors in the game before but now when I click on a certain system I get a 'TDirect3dxfile.start" error, cannot find file. Don't know what the heck is happening there.

IRM mod, windowed mode. Maybe its something to do with the images added with the new image mod pack I just added in?

anyone?

Ship Hull Sizes and Space Yard Component

Which ship hull sizes do you primarily use? It seems to me that it is best to upgrade the smallest hull size to level 10 before continuing to a bigger hull size because of the bonuses for small hull sizes, what do you think?

I think that the space yard component is an important component to get early in the game, but are there something you should research before it? (I do research some level in sensor, but are there other things?), or should you just take all you research point into space yard from the beginning?

Using Fleets and Strategies

Hi there,

now that I had the first encounter with a capable enemy fleet ( thanks kwok, and balance mod )
which totally wasted my superior joined fleet because of bloody stupidness and a general inability to follow orders. ( or not to do what I want .. I am in IT i know this is different like day and night )

I am thinking about fleet strategies and how do design my own.

Is there a good tutorial out there ? Or do you have some good hints for a fleet noob ^^

Before I just flew in with the biggest, meanest ship I could design, layed out for all and left nothing in my way. No problem with the frigate shooting gallery the normal AI presents.

Goddamn ..

( be warned, thread could contain coarse language and be offensive )

I thought I had enough with all the Space Empires bashing I read since I first logged in here.
I always played a nice game of Sim Empire, my goals are simple, run an empire build big ships and sphere worlds .. bash an A.I. or two on the way.

I don't play to win, I don't play to optimize, for me Space Empires is a Zen like feeling.

I don't care for the long turn rates .. It's great, I read while I wait, watch my favorite TV Shows or I learn.
Turn based is great to stand up in between to care for my daughter, follow the crazy ideas of my wife or do something completely different.

Starting Resources Question

OK. I have 100,000 in starting resources. Now, what do I do with it? How would I best make use of it? I have found that I can only spend a tiny amount on turn 1 then the rest goes away due to a lack of storage. Not sure at this point what good it does me. At least I can spend all the bonus tech points on turn 1. Smiling
