Nebula Storm

Submitted by TakAhLah on Fri, 2008-03-28 14:21. Space Empires V After Action Reports

[i]IN THE BEGINNING...

The young planets began as a twinkle in the Nebula's eye, along with the asteroids, meteors, comets -through the tendency of matter to clump together, ever more until finally there were substantial bodies, the planets and their moons, sweeping up all left-overs in their orbits. During this era, approximately one billion years long, the newly-borning planets were pummeled mercilessly by these left-overs. This was the so-called "Hadean Period", a "hell-ish" time indeed, when the planets surfaces were periodically broiled, flash-fried. Incoming asteroids of sufficient size would vaporize themselves and where they impacted, would turn into a seering plasma that would tsusami around the planet.

Some Ships not appearing but no errors??@!@?!?@!??? BrAiNZzz

Submitted by battlespud on Fri, 2008-03-28 14:46. SE:V MODs

ok, for my halo mod i added in quite a few ships, approximately 3 times as many ship sizes as stock, not counting units. Im testing everything in an all tech game with all racial traits etc. the research prequisites have been met and i can design stock, modded bases and one modded ship but nothing else appears in the ship selection of research screens. WHY???? the only thing ive added is
Requirement 6 Description := This vehicle can only have one Shield Generator on it.
Requirement 6 Formula := Get_Design_Specific_Component_Count("Covenant Shield Generator")

Question about shipsets/new races

Submitted by shireknight on Fri, 2008-03-28 16:41. SE:V MODs

I have downloaded some ship sets and extracted them into my empires folder, I can see all the individual components of the empires in the create an empire section like the ship style, pictures of the rulers and so forth but I can't seem to load the complete empires into the game to actually compete against them.

I can see that the empires have histories, planet types ect so I believe they should work the same as the default empires but when I try to play a quick game only the original empires can be selected -I even tried removing some of the default empires to see if this made room for them to appear but all it does is leave gaps in the list where the empires were lol.

Ground Combat Mod 2.14

Submitted by Brad on Fri, 2008-03-28 17:43. SE:V MODs

Hardly worth an update really, since all I did was update the data files to SEV 1.71. But I took the opportunity to change the download from a .zip to a .rar which cut nearly 700kb off the file size. New download here!

If you don't want to download the whole thing again for such a piddly change, just delete the Mainstrings.txt and RacialTraits.txt from the mod's Data folder. There were a couple of other changes but doing this will allow the mod to run under 1.71.

Considering buying, concerns about copy protection

Submitted by Teddy Bär on Fri, 2008-03-28 18:37. Space Empires V General

I stumbled across Space Empires via playing the Sins of a Solar Empire Demo.

I have had a look at the demo, which I feel does not do itself any favours, that said it looks to be an epic 4x in the classic tradition and add to this that it is still being supported by the developer I am willing to take the jump and put down money.

The only thing that will stop me is if the game comes with some nasty/restrictive/intrusive DRM.

So the question is, does it come with some nasty/restrictive/intrusive DRM?

VER #s???

Submitted by Narn on Fri, 2008-03-28 19:34. Space Empires V FAQs

I own SEV. I haven't liked it so far because I don't have as much command over my forces in combat, and the ship graphics, although 3D, are uglier then the graphics for SE4. Additionally its harder to mod and the UI sucks.

This being as it may I have decided to download the patches for it but now I am stuck in the quandary of not knowing what needs to be downloaded. Can I just download the latest patch or is there some convoluted series of patches that I need to install in a some order?

Changing uploaded turn in a PBW game?

Submitted by Shrike on Fri, 2008-03-28 19:55. Space Empires V Multiplayer

PBW allows for deletion of your current turn and uploading a new PLR file. My question: is there any way to open a PLR file on your local machine to edit it and save it again? If you were to load the game again from the GAM file then you lose all the manipulations you had done for your turn and that is exactly what I want to avoid.
