Real difference between Capital ship missiles and torpedoes

I just noticed that.. torpedoes often have more damage.. same range (IIRC, not antimatter torps).. faster reload..similar cost than their equivalent level in capital ship missiles.. And they are lighter too!

Torpedoes seems to be a lot more effective that CSMs... am i mistaken?

So im wondering.. what did i miss?

Question about armor plating..

the third type of armor, the black one that "negates any damage under Xkt".. is it treated like an arbritrary defense like if if negates 7kt and a 6 kt gun hit it, it does nothing. But if 8kt, 8 kt damage passes?

Or is it some sort of damage reduction? 8 - 7armor = 1kt damage?

And unlike other type of armor... it doesnt say that only a single set of this armor is effective on a ship.. so is there a way to make sure its the last thing to get destroyed or is it random about what plating is destroyed first?

I surrender... Wait, what?

Allllright, so im in my home system which is also home to another race. We've be going at it since we've met and its been about 5 or so years and ive pretty much ended their empire which only consisted of their homeworld. Now, i have run into a weird problem. First before capture their home planet, im playing, all is well and then BAM, next turn comes up to a screen saying all human players are dead, game over. Something along those lines, with a picture of a skeleton dude on a planet. It allows me to look at my logs and the system and appreantly ive surrendered to the empire i was about to crush, and they now controlled all my panets! I was shocked and it sucked cause i had to load....ugh

Age of twilight

If anyone wants to know I am hosting a PBW game and I got 13 players and I like to get 5 more players.

These are the settings:

Please upload your race as soon as possible and choose a shipset from the dropdown when doing so.

Races may only colonize their home planet type.
Colony trading is allowed. Trading and capturing is the only way to get planet types other than your own.

Anyone who misses 2 or more turns in a row may be kicked.

I am thinking of starting when I have 15 or 18 players.

Note: some empires may try attacking your home planets a few turns into the game so make sure your planets can hold off any troop attacks that may come.

I have Starfury which i downloaded from strategy first 1-2 years ago and rarely played, now when i try to start it it says the key is invalid and i dont have any information on it becasue i got it as a free download with help from guy at startaegy first because my old one was wiped with he rest of my hard drive last year HELPPPPPPPPPPPP!@!@!@!

Colonizing Sphere and Ringworls

For the life of me I can't colonize sphere and ring worlds. I have the 1.66 patch and I'm sending the right type of colony ship. Can anyone please tell me how to get your ship to colonize these man made planets?

Curses someone fixed my favorite bug!

Can't put 300+ RoboMiner Sats on 1 asteroid since 166 patch. I was wondering if anyone else had an undocumented function that could replace my lost one. It sure was nice to not have to allocate facility space for planetary resource production. I quess that's the cost of progress.

Ally empires blocking warp point

As you see from the title, i am blocked by an allies satellites from entering a warp point. I tried to blow them away but my ships won't fire at the sats. We have a non-aggression pact, but 2 turns ago i just shot up his destroyer for entering thru one of my warp points. How do i solve this? Please, this is not the first time something like this has happened. Any help would be aprecciated. Also, which tech do i have to develop that gives me the ability to mine asteriod fields. And another question (while I have everyone's attention) what happens if you play a game without warp points? Do you have to develop that tech and if so, how?

Help?

yeah iv recently been playing Space Empires V.After loading my usual game it will only show a corner of a sector,the map will not move/rotate whatsoever and will only show a tiny section of each sector plus a large area of background space. iv tried all map views that are listed under controls,loading new games,starting new games,even uninstalling and reinstalling the game.Nothing at all will change the view.
Anyone know how to fix it?
