Colony ships disappear

If you send a stack of colonizers to colonize on the same planet they all disappear.
you get the colony but it only has the population of one colonizer. doesn't matter how many you send. they always disappear.

Disappearing Colony Ships

Maybe this has been reported already... but when i send a stack of colony ships to colonize the same planet they all disappear. I get the colony, but it only has the population of one colony ship and all the other colony ships are gone.

Efficiency in Simultaneous vs. Single Player play

Good morning all,

I just recently started my first simultaneous play game (PBEmail), and I'm finding all sorts of ways in which my empire is less efficient in simultaneous play compared to how it would be in single player play. I'm posting here today looking for ideas to get around these, and other inefficiencies, that others have encountered.

Example 1: I order a colony ship to colonize a planet. In single player, I can fill up the build queue the same turn the planet is colonized, but in simultaneous, I have to wait until the turn after the planet is colonized. Is there a way around this? Even for a standard build like a sensor sat plus 10 fighters or something.

Components.bmp

As I begin to "teach" myself how to mod I am going through the various files and I discovered the components.bmp. This bmp is basically a poster with each and every component in the game arranged in a checkerboard pattern. Is this bmp simply for reference or is it utilized by the game code? If it is utilized by the game code then I assume that the components must be placed on this "poster" in the order that they are numbered on their individual bmp pictures? I also assume that if this bmp is used by the game code that each area/square of the poster must be the same size for the code to be able to locate the picture needed. If true this is easy enough to build...but if I do not need to build one all the better.
