How do component destroying weapons work?Submitted by Kingside_Bishop on Fri, 2008-01-25 09:10. Space Empires V GeneralHi! I'm working on an idea that requires component destroying weapons (shield disruptors, etc.). But, I can't get them to work. I thought they were supposed to skip shields and armor, but they don't... they don't even deal damaage to the components when the shields are down. How do these weapons work? Thanks for any help! |

I'm starting to think they are too powerful in relation to their cost. Overpowered: In my opinion you could take 30 Drones versus 30 Ships and the drones would win. A lot of the problem lies in that a drone can carry any weapon a ship can carry with targeting restrictions other than the weapon's limits. While a ship can carry the same weapons as a Drone, but certain ship weapons cannot target the drone. For example if you have a fleet of Missle armed ships you will be in a big hurt if you run accross missle armed Drones as the drones can shoot you, but you can't shoot them. » read more | 19 comments |

I'm creating a mod of my own and i don't know, how to create somekind of "Shield Mount" via Editor. Perhaps someone knows... I took the idea from MoO3. There you could choose from small shields to huge shields (basicly determening how much space shields need in a ship and how many shield-points you have, but i'm not so sure) and what kind of shields you are using (Shield Level 1 to Dampening Field). I even created a "Mobile Transwarp Hub" (Baseship equipped with many Wormhole creators and destroyers / thank you, Borg), but i guess i'm not the only one who did that. Something that really bugs me is that the Type of the Empire ,i.e. Kingdom, Federation, Republic, Regime, etc., has no effect on this game. And there are many Examples thoughout history that many states don't really are what they claim to be in their names. I was thinking, if it was possible to determine what can be or can't be built in the Empire due to its Empire Type (perhaps via Racial Trait "Federal Empire Type"). » read more | 2 comments |

Space Empires V GeneralI was wondering if there is any mod out there that lets you make colonies in space that can support population, or space yards or bases that can be placed in deep space or asteroid fields, I have searched in the internet already but havent found anything, thanks |
