Kwok's Cosmic Wars (PBW)

Greetings.

I thought it might be a good time to get back into SE:V pbw-ing. I've set up a new game, "Kwok's Cosmic Wars", for 6 players using Balance Mod v1.11. Game settings are flexible but I think probably easiest to restrict sets to stock ones. Players that join can post their shipset in this thread etc.

Creating new game with specific AI race.

Greetings.

I would like to know how (if possible) to create a game with specific pre-created race(s) (those from SE5\Empires\ dir). As I understood they got picked only when you select "create random AI players" option. But what if I would like to play only with, lets say, Abbidon race ?

[v.1.58][BM 1.10]Game unable to load flags

Hi gentlemen,

after about 70 turns, the game issued the following error message after turn calculation :
"Could not load file C:\......\pictures\flags".

After 3 or 4 clicks on the box, the turn eventually displayed.
In one of the systems, 3 planets & fleets of the Aamon Krye Empire lost their flags. A white suare was displayed instead.
In the Messages Report, a message said something like :
"We have encountered a new alliance, called the" withy a blank name following.

I suspect the flag error is linked to this new unnamed alliance.

Damagetypes and Damage Resistance Bugs

I've found some bugs occuring with damage resistance and the penetration percent in DamageTypes.txt

1. Bug (or probably feature):
-----------------------------

The Damage from "Armor Type X Penetration Percent" does not go to structure or the next armor level. Instead it counts for the next armor plate of the same type.

Example:
Number of Armor Types := 1
Armor Type 1 Name := Normal Armor
Armor Type 1 Penetration Percent := 20
Armor Type 1 Damage Percent := 80

Spaceyard bug

In v1.58 is posible to build more then one spaceyard, but there is not possible to build normla and temporal spaceyard together. This is not critical, but little anoying. Hope to fix it soon.

AI in Balance Mod

So I have Balance mod, and I've downloaded a few extra races...which of course didn't work right away, so I tried to switch their main & setup scripts with the "default" examples from the Balance mod/empires folder. Still don't work...they just sit there not doing anything ingame, and their mood always reads "unknown". So what can I do to make these races work, is there a relatively simple (as opposed to rewriting the entire ai scripts) solution to make them work like they do (and yes, i tested this) in vanilla?

How do I go about using more than one mod at a time?

e.g. Small Flag Mod and Unnamed Mod, or something like Small Flag, Dark UI, and Unnamed.

Bal Mod 1.11 Problem

I downloaded the BM1.11 to update a 1.10 game that I already had in progress. It ran a few turns seemingly fine, but now crashes with a "cannot find TDirect3DxFile.start - Cant find file" error when AI Player 5 starts his turn. This is repeatable. I did a file search and it doesn't look like such a file exists. I can't find any files with a .start extension. Help, ideas anyone?

Ergie's map editor

I love Ergie's map creator but have one small problem with it and was hoping someone might have a solution. Is it possible to make it name planets right? Currently it names them XXX 1, XXX 2, etc instead of XXX I, XXX II. It also doesn't do moons and just names them like a regular planet. I think it numbers the astroids wrong too... I rarely pay attention to astroids so don't know if they are numbered with numbers or roman numerals in the game. I'm using version 0.3.4, I'm sure that plays a matter in this to. If there's a more up to date version can anyone point me to it?

1. Fixed - Sometimes the Planets List window would crash when opening it.
2. Fixed - Some memory leaks.
3. Fixed - You could add multiple space yards to a construction queue.
4. Changed - Increased Resupply Depot supply and ordnance generation.

6. Fixed - AI will now scrap old weapon platforms on its planets when cargo space is low or the design is really old.
